Students Of Poverty

The slave (working stiff) is foolish when he tries to be just like his master (employer).

The objective is to change the game.

Where there’s no vision the people will perish.

Companies and corporations are tapping into our youth’s vision, energy and resources then use it to their advantage and financial gain. This is how they stay in business. This is how some people keep a firm grip on their titles and  corner office.

America is not a country she’s nothing more than an idea and we can make her whatever we want.

A girl in isolation for radiation screening looks at her dog through a window in Nihonmatsu, Japan.

More importantly, we are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.

A fire can either keep you warm and cook your food or burn you alive.

College student Jajuan Kelley covers his mouth with a Skittles wrapper as he stands in a crowd of thousands rallying at the Georgia State Capitol in memory of slain Florida teenager Trayvon Martin. Protests were held nationwide in reaction to the death of Trayvon Martin, the Florida teenager whose shooting by a neighborhood watch captain has led to questions of the “stand your ground” law in Florida and other states.

A lost creates leaders. Fear fails. Love makes money. Vulnerability is power. Giving is receiving.

  1. There can be no strength without legitimate suffering.
  2. Only respect and love lead to success.
  3. Love is at the core of true wealth.
  4. When you open up to people, they will open up to you.
  5. The more you offer to others, the more they will give back to you.

The Association: If you want a little insight into your future just take an inventory of your friends.

Life is 10% of what life does to you and 90% in how you choose to respond to it.

Self esteem and self worth, the identity piece determine how you walk, where you walk and how boldly you walk.

Our children are not dumb nor are they stupid. In fact, they are brilliant; modeling what they see in their home, community and their environment. We have to give our children better role models other then what they see. Being a Rap Star, Athlete or Drug Dealer is what they see and they say, “I can do that. I can look like that and I can be like Mike”.

Teach our youth if they hang around 9 broke homies they will be the number 10.

This is the code name for “Hope”. The most dangerous people in the world is the one with no hope.

We have to see opportunity and put in the work. If we don’t see opportunity we don’t put in the work. We are dropping out of high school because we haven’t connected education with aspiration in a long time. The kids are saying what’s the point? They are saying, “If I can’t get a job or see economic opportunity at the end of this, let me sell drugs (Illegal Entrepreneurship ).

Talk without being offensive. Listen without being defensive and always leave your adversary with their dignity because if you don’t they will spend the rest of their life making you miserable.

Success is going from failure to failure without the lost of enthusiasm.

A drug can heal, cure and make you well or it can make you an addict.

The Drug Dealer:

He/she understands import, export, finance, marketing, whole sale, retail, inventory, security, customer service and territory. They are not dumb people they are misdirected. A gang organizer is nothing more than a angry union organizer.

the hug.jpg

It’s that first hug you receive when he gets home from jail. He held you so tight. You felt more than his warm embrace. You felt his desperation in his time of need, his emotional imbalance and his feminine deprivation.

America is by far the best country in the world. It is without a doubt an amazing place. Where else can you reinvent yourself, recreate, reaffirm and reimage yourself?

Our ability to heal; to repair it’s faults is our greatest asset.

You can’t have a rainbow without first having a storm.

Because of our experience 70% of Black America is clinically undiagnosed depressed. This would explain a lot of our anger, our lack of hope, our frustration. We are not skeptical enough. At times we are cynical.

Food for thought

Grab a plate, then relate.
